This time, I used a German Twisted cast on, using a 3 mm needle. There's lots of give in this cast on, which is a good thing. Again, the yarn used is Online's Supersocke 100 River Collection. The pair used just under 50 gm, so one ball of this yarn (100 gm) should make two pairs of socks in this size. This pair of socks, like the smaller ones, was worked on 2.5 mm (US 1) double-pointed needles.
I'll be typing up the pattern today and will, hopefully, have it up later. Now, to get that fridge cleaned! *sigh* (In case you hadn't guessed, I'm procrastinating.)
P.S. I've just posted the pattern for the Most Basic Kids Socks in my sidebar. It's in the section entitled "My Patterns". Let me know if you find any errors in the pattern. Let me know, too, if you make the socks as per this pattern. Let me know how they turn out. I love feedback!
You and my daughter - just don't know how you use those little needles and keep track of what you are knitting - I crochet which is much more forgiving of mistakes.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Ev!
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to knit them, I just need to find a 2 - 3 year old to knit them for.
Thanks for sharing your pattern! I need to knit a pair of socks for my daughter. :)
ReplyDeleteforgive me maybe I know the cast on by a different name, but what exactly is a german cast on? How is it done?
ReplyDeleteThank! btw~ your lip balm sound great, I make them too but haven't in a while either. I made 100s last year getting to the end.. will have to make more son. I didn't use SJW oil but have tried the emu once. Love peppermint eo...Even my room & car freshener, bug spray peppermint is great fro everything!! ;o))
I knit up one sock today, the larger size and I found 1 typo in the pattern. In your instructions for how many stitches per needle, you put 16. However, 16x4 is 64. It should be 13 per needle.
ReplyDeleteAlso, on Row 10 of the heel turning. When I finished the purl 13 I had 2 extra stitches on the other needle. I turned as directed, but going the other way there were only 15 stitches, not 16.
I don't know if this was a pattern mistake or something I did. I was going to cast on the other sock tonight and maybe later this week I can tell you if I run into this problem again.
Thanks again for sharing this pattern. It was exactly what I needed as I have an almost 5 year old who has been begging me to make her socks. You can see in the picture of her on my blog she is thrilled I was making a sock for her.
She asked me if she could wear it with the DPN's sticking out. She thought that was cool. ;)
